We celebrated Hanna's birthday at home in PG with friends. We had a piñata (which Hanna was very excited about), cupcakes, pizza and goodie bags. The big highlight for Hanna was when she got the Barbie Jeep (above with Bella Hunter). It's hard to believe she is already 3 years old but she sure is grown-up in so many ways. It was a fun party!

Cali's class took a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and I chaperoned. I was in charge of Cali and another girl. For the most part we stayed together as a class learning about sea life through hands-on activities. However, the highlight came after the regular tour. Cali has a boy in her class whose dad works at the aquarium and got us behind the scenes. It was pretty cool to see the tanks from up above them or to be in rooms where the public doesn't get to go. BUT the biggest highlight of the day was getting to pet a sea otter while he was under sedation. He was in surgery for something and we got to go in the room with him and pet him like we would a cat. It was so amazing it made me cry. I know I am a big sap but I just kept thinking about how priceless the experience was. *The above photo and the one below are of the sea otter.
We now live in Pacific Grove at the Pt Pinos Lighthouse in the Coast Guard housing. It is amazing!!! To say the least. This is a priceless experience that we feel very blessed to have. The kids now go to Robert H Down Elementary, we go to the Monterey 2nd Ward, we live on the PG Links Golf Course and we live in an amazing city. We could not be any happier. One of the cool benefits to living here is seeing all the deer. They are in the streets, in yards, on the golf course, in the cemetery, etc. It is pretty cool to a big city girl like me. I'm always getting overly excited about every deer that I see and KC makes fun of me. Today I finally took a picture of the deer that made me stop to let him cross the street. :) The kids were laughing at me in the back seat.
For the FHE activity tonight we made cookies on a stick and decorated them. You can see that the kids had more fun eating everything than anything else. 
Hanna has been wanting to do dance for awhile now. I finally got her enrolled through the Monterey Recreation Center. The class was filled with a lot of girls that already knew each other so I think Hanna felt a little left out at times. She never really loved the class but she gave it a good try. I think we will look for other classes next time.
These were a couple of fun places we went this summer, 2011. We went up to Felton (Roaring Camp) and walked around and did the loop (an easy walk through the Redwoods). The kids had fun getting some exercise and acting silly.
