Lula's Chocolate Factory Tour

The girls and I went with the activity day girls to Lula's. It is a local chocolate factory owned by a member of the Monterey 1st Ward. I have been on the tour twice with Relief Society but this was a unique experience for the young girls. We learned about how they make the chocolates and carmels. It is the original recipe from Scott Lund's grandma. Then we got a couple of samples. Yum!!! We bought a few things and now the girls are hooked on fine chocolate.

Backyard Fun

KC is still deployed and we have been home now for almost 2 weeks. We are getting settled into the idea of dad being gone temporarily. It's hard some days and even harder other days. The jacuzzi that came with our new home takes the sting away a bit though. The kids LOVE it!!

The kids and I went to the park today. There were a few friends to play with and then there is always the swings.

For dinner we went to Black Bear Diner (it's free for kids on Tuesday). The kids love the food and the ice-cream.

Flashback

January 2013
We took the kids to the skating rink in marina. It took me right back to my childhood. I loved to roller skate and to go to the rink. There was one close to my Grandma Schmidts house and she would take us there a lot.
The kids, other than Wyatt, tried it and loved it. We skated for almost 3 hours with music playing and the disco ball spinning. What a fun day!

Fun in Petaluma

November 2012
The kids and I visited KC while he was at the Chiefs Academy in Petaluma. One day we had to wait for him to get out of class so we went to the park. It was Fall and there were lots of leaves everywhere. The kids made a huge pile on top of each other and then they would jump out of it. It was so cute and lots of fun.

PG Natural History Museum

November 2012

I went with Cali and her class to the PG Natural History Museum. It's a great place. They learned about the Monarchs, did a scavenger hunt and studied the native animals. It was a buddy field trip which means Cali's class went with their kindergarten friends. It was a fun day!

The kids played so nice at the park today. Seth stayed home to play Minecraft with Benjamin.

The girls made lots of friends while playing make believe games. They are so cute and sociable. I love how Cali will ask others to play with her.



If I had a title for this picture it would be "My sister, the Superhero". It would also be my book cover. The story would cover the adventures these 2 sisters have thru the eyes of Hanna. One day I will write it...



Here is Wyatt at his favorite car table. I love how he too plays so well with others. Before asking this girl in the photo to play he had already played with 2 other nice boys. Wyatt shared his cars and came up with games to play at the table. Love it!!

Oct 2012 Remembering Our Veterans

I love Robert Down Elementary School. They honor our Veterans every year at Veterans Day. KC could not be there due to the Chiefs Academy. Cali asked if she could bring a picture of him so he could be there. Of course I said yes. She is so sweet and thoughtful. The kids got to stand on the playground and have their parents honored while the principal thanked each of them. It is a very special day at school.

Seth starts the BDay celebration

Seth and Cali wanted to have a big SD birthday party but we quickly realized that several favorite families would be out of town. So I told the kids to pick a couple of friends they would like to spend one-on-one time with. Seth wanted the Jenkins oldest boys, Crew and Tate. He also wanted Preston. We had 2 separate play days for these friends. We played games, went to dinner, had cupcakes and more.

Time with friends Summer 2013

We have been so lucky to have stayed at mom and jacks this summer. It gave us a wonderful vacation with friends and family.

We went to the Hallahan's house to swim and hangout. Dani stopped by for a bit with her girls and one of Jade's friends. What a fun visit.



We went to the beach a couple of times with the Schallocks. Wyatt and Lexie were so cute with each other.



We went to the park with Rebekah Peters and her kids and Laurie Parkinson and her kids. It's always good to catch-up with old friends.

Time with the Jenkins boys

Crew and Tate came to visit for the day and spent the night. We picked them up from Carlsbad where they were camping. We went to Souplantation, had FHE, played games and then the boys played Legos. Seth was happy to have them all to himself at Grammie and Papa's.

Star made by Seth - March 2013

Cali did a book report on Betsy Ross where she learned about the 5 point star she suggested for the American flag. Betsy said it would look better and be easier to make. Her star design was used for the flag and that is only part if her cool story. We learned that she overcame many challenges, was a very strong woman and an amazing seamstress. In the back of the book it showed how to make the 5 point Betsy Ross star so of course Seth made one.

Crazy Kids - July 2013

KC is deployed and our only communication for the last 3 weeks has been email. However, tonight KC called us from a pay phone in Panama using a calling card. How old school is that? Anyway, it was a real treat for all of us. It was so nice to just talk casually for a couple of hours. We miss him so much.


He asked us to keep sending pictures of us. He said it is making the separation easier. Here is what we came up with.
