Taking Wyatt to the Temple

April 2013

What an amazing experience!! We have had Wyatt since May of 2011. He was almost 2 but didn't talk, didn't walk much and didn't eat anything. We started exposing him to anything we could and teaching him to eat. We started the adoption process in February of 2012 and we were put through tons of hoops. The adoption was final in January of 2013 and we were able to take him to the temple in April of 2013 to be sealed to our family. It was a beautiful day shared by friends and family. Our kids were able to be in the temple with us and that was super special too. I knew on that day that our family was complete and all together for eternity.

Roller Skating - February 2013

We have a local roller skating rink in Marina. We went as a family one day and the kids loved it. It brought back some gun memories for me.

Story of Grandma and Grandpa told by my mom

I wanted to share an experience that happened to Grandma... (told by my mom, Dale Anderson)

Grandma had quite a week after receiving a call from their Health Provider. Each month a nurse comes to the house and takes Grandpa's vital signs and checks him over, etc., but the health provider said that since Grandpa had not seen a doctor in two years, they were going to have to drop his coverage.

Now you would think the Health Provider would have a "Doctor visit" program for someone who is bedridden, but they insisted Grandpa had to go to the doctors office. The only way that could happen would be via ambulance and Grandma would have to pay for it ($1000 to $1500). Grandma was extremely upset.

She called me, although I wasn't here, so Jack talked with her and she also called Uncle Burn and explained the situation. Jack relayed the message to me and by the time I talked with her, she had calmed down somewhat. She felt she should pray about it and just see what would be the best thing to do.

So, she was inspired to call the doctor who had last seen Grandpa (which is the same doctor she uses). She wanted to make an appointment for Grandpa, but she would go instead and then she'd be able to talk with the doctor herself and see what he recommended, but when she called to make the appointment for Grandpa she was told she could not make an appointment for someone who would not be there for the appointment.

So she got off the phone, and then she was inspired to call and make an appointment for herself as a followup to last week when she pulled a muscle in her back. Fortunately a different person answered the phone at the doctors office.

Her appointment was today. She was able to talk with the doctor about the Health Provider threatening to cancel their insurance unless Grandpa was seen by a doctor. She explained to the doctor how difficult and expensive it would be to get Dad into the doctors office. She must have been very convincing.

The doctor was very kind and understanding and told Grandma he would re-arrange his schedule and would probably be able to go to their house in a few days, then he said, "Let me finish up a few things and I will be there in a little while". Grandma was so thankful, and grateful for this turn of events.

Grandma left the doctors office and went home and within an hour the doctor came to their house. He checked Grandpa all over and stayed and talked with them for awhile. Grandma was able to ask him a lot of questions she had about Grandpa's care and some sores he has on his head, etc. Grandma said he was so kind and understanding. It truly was a miracle to have their doctor make a house call. Mom thinks that there were angels around her when she first went to the doctors office and talked with the doctor, and angels again when the doctor came to their home.

Nothing is impossible when we ask in faith. Gram called us just after the doctor left their house and she was soooooo very happy. I know it's very difficult as we age how little problems become big problems, but this was a BIG problem to begin with, and she relied on the Lord for help and He helped her. My faith was strengthened today.

A Visit to Sea World

While we were in San Diego for spring Break / Wyatt Sealing we went to Sea World. We saw a huge turtle, went on the Atlantis ride and saw lots of animal exhibits.

Oceanside - Presho Easter Party

It worked out so well with the kids Spring Break that we could be at moms for Easter. The kids have such a great time with their cousins and grandparents. There was a bonnet contest, 3 legged race, egg hunt and lots of yummy food.
Then the following weekend we went to the temple to have Wyatt sealed to us. Exciting week!!

First Day of School

August 7, 2013

Today Seth, Cali and Hanna started school. It was a bittersweet moment. They needed to be back on a schedule and be with friends but I enjoyed our time together playing, sleeping in, eating whatever, visiting friends and being on our schedule. I also had a hard time with Seth starting middle school and Hanna starting transitional kindergarten. It puts all of my kids at different schools. Cali is still at Robert H Down but Seth moved up and Hanna's class is only offered at Forest Grove.
I dropped Seth off first and stressed all day if he would find his classes and would he be ok. Then I dropped Cali off and felt bad all day that I couldn't walk her into class and give her a better send-off. Last I took Hanna to class and I couldn't find parking. I was getting very impatient and irritated so I worried all day that Hanna left me on bad terms.
When I came back to pick them up they were all fine. First thing Hanna said was, "I had a great day mom". Seth was super tired but just fine. Cali loves being in Karen Levy's class so she was as happy as can be. It all worked out.... Just like it always does.

Knoop / Wood Adult Getaway

The Wood / Knoop adults took a trip into San Francisco. We stayed downtown, ate at non-kid restaurants, went to Alcatraz Island and did a lot of shopping. We had a great time.
