Camp Grammie Aug '09

This was Camp Grammie 2009. The kids and I went to the Anderson's for the weekend and had a blast. The tent was up, the firepit was going and grammie had planned a treasure hunt for the kids. We cooked a dutch-oven roast Saturday night while the kids roasted hot dogs and made S'Mores. We sang campfire songs and played with our flashlights. The kids had a great time and I got to relax a bit (KC is still deployed).

WWKCD.....if you have to ask then you are on the wrong page

Well, like last year, I spent my anniversary this year without KC....we both were sad about it. Thank goodness he was in port (Mexico) and we got to talk for a little. He also arranged for the Jenkins to deliver flowers to me and that made all the difference. The flowers filled our home with happiness and a reminder of KC's love. In fact, Danelle came up with the title (WWKCD) and I loved it. She had noticed my trash waiting by the front door to be taken to the dumpster and after she delivered the flowers she threw the trash away....thank you Danelle. So, later when I emailed her a thank you she said she noticed it when she was driving away and thought, "wwkcd", so she threw the trash out like she knew he would. What a great friend!

That night the kids and I went to the Bickfords for dinner, which is what we did last year too. The Bickfords decided to make a tradition out of it. The kids had fun playing with Tiffany and I enjoyed Kathie's company. Thanks to good friends the day was not completely forgotten.

We went with the Schallocks to Sea World (Fri, Aug 14) as our last summer fun day before school starts. We saw the sharks, shows and much more but the best was seeing the kids and Devin drenched after the water ride. They were cooled down for the hot day. Seth stayed with me and the little ones (hanna and luke). He said he didn't want to walk around all wet. Funny kid!

KC is deployed right now and gone for a month. We took some fun photos in hopes that he would be able to see them while out on the seas fighting "bad guys".

Hanna is crawling

Hanna is finally crawling. She started just a week or so before her 10 month birthday. She is so cute about it too. Just like everything else about her, she crawls slow and very doll like. She has always been laid back and easygoing and her crawl shows it. She is so cute!

Well, I did survive the first day of Cali's kindergarten school year. It was hard to see her so grown-up and ready to take the next step in life. However, at the same time it made me feel like a good mom in knowing that I had helped to prepare her for the moment. She was excited about the new friends she was making and the new things she would get to do. When it was time to part our ways she gave me several big hugs and kisses and said good-bye and that she would miss me. I love that about her...she is so open with her feelings. She will do great!

As for Seth, he did just fine too. His best buddy Preston is in his class again this year and that made him very happy. They saw eachother and I was no longer an interest to him. He gave me a quick hug and said good-bye.

So, Hanna and I had the day to ourselves. I let her take a nap while I cleaned and got stuff done. I think she missed the kids though. She kept looking around for them. Then, when we picked them up she was so happy to see them. She sure loves those 2 and so do I.

Cali had a great day and was happy to tell me all about it. When she first saw me after school she ran up and gave me a huge hug and said she missed me. That made my day since I had cried for most of it while I was away from her. And Seth had a good day too just not so talkative about it. Boys vs Girls....gotta love them.

Well, we will see how the rest of the year goes from here.

Laughing in Laughlin Aug 3-7

Well, this was our big family trip this year and it was a lot of fun. The Williams came out to San Diego for a wedding and thought it would be fun to tack on a trip with us after their weekend wedding stuff. So, that is exactly what we did. We all went to Laughlin for a week. The weather was average 115, the river was average below 70, the pool was "mucky", the rooms were cheap, the people were "beautiful" and we sure had a LOT of fun. We would sit by the pool all day or sit out at the river beach then eat lunch and dinner together. Then, after putting the kids to bed at night the adults would stay up late playing games and cards. The kids all got along great and we had so much fun. We can't wait for our next Williams/Knoop Trip. Love ya guys!!
